The Halsakot fishing lodge is a new destination for tourists visiting the East
of Iceland. It is located only 40-minutes drive north of the town Egilsstaðir.
The lodge complex sits overlooking the Kalda River not far from where it
joins the mighty Jokla River. It is set amidst the agricultural landscape of the
lower Jokla valley and backs onto the birch clad hills that are alive with bird
song in spring and summer.
Accommodation is in eight cabins set adjacent to the main building. Each
one has twin beds and a shower room with w/c. The main building is the sitting
room/dining room area with a a wood burning stove and floor to ceiling
windows on three sides. From here is a wonderful view across the wide Jokla
valley to the snow capped mountains of Dyrfjoll to the east. There is free WiFi
for guests and a satellite television.

The lodge is open all year and ideally suited to small groups who wish to cater
for themselves. During the fishing season, which runs from 10 July until
30 September, up to three cabins may be available and guests can choose
between bed and breakfast or full service with meals served in accordance to
the fishing lodge daily timetable (please ask for details).
The area has many attractions ranging from sight-seeing trips to the recently
completed dam at Jokulsalon, coastal drives, hiking in the highlands, horse
riding, bird watching and of course fishing. We will be pleased to assist you
with planning an itinerary.
